tangerine and chrome

The song Somewhere Out West gave its name to the website. It's a state of mind, the lure of the frontier, a dream of a better life. Ain't that America.

Over time I become aware of things that could be better in the production of some songs. Originally recorded in 2003 at the Maple Avenue basement studio, this version of Somewhere Out West has been edited. I chopped 15 seconds out of it, and believe me folks, you won't miss 'em.

Thanks to Gil Smart and Dave SanSoucie for backup vocals, and to Fred Amendola for that fabulous steel guitar! Miss you, man.

Somewhere Out West

Somewhere Out West

Listen to that mission bell
Ringing in the morning
In a land where wishes will
Come true without warning

Somewhere out West
We will find our home
It's all the best
Tangerines and chrome

Clouds above the mesa
Dirt below our wheels
Santa Ana wind is blowing
Tell me how that feels

Somewhere out West
We will find our home
It's all the best
Tangerines and chrome

Somewhere out West
Where the grass is sweet
Somewhere out West
That is where we will meet
