salt and pepper

Digging through a drawer full of cassettes in search of Namaste rehearsals, I found this song on a mis-labeled tape. It was sandwiched between a couple of songs from the Kiko album, so I suppose that sets the earliest it might have been recorded to around 1992- but of course, it may have been later. Whenever and wherever I recorded it, I have absolutely no recollection of it. I was surprised with the lyrics and performance. It was like hearing it with unbiased ears.

Mostly I like the very last verse- because now it is the future and I'm tellin' all you good people all about it!

New Age

New Age

Well, I know my baby
She's gonna jump and shout
Well, I know my baby
She's gonna jump and shout
When that Illinois mail train
Brings my check around

Goin' down to see my baby
She lives in a swank part of town
Goin' down to see my baby
She lives in a swank part of town
Got a Pekingese dog
Barks when I come around

Ahh New Age
New Age
Like turning a new page
Salt and pepper
Bottled water
Sure can be a blue age

Well I know my baby loves me
I can tell by the way she lies
Yes I know my baby loves me
I can tell by the way she lies
She tell me "It's alright honey"
I see it in her eyes

Well I'm going back to the future
Back to where I come from
I'm going back to the future
Back to where I come from
I'll tell all you good people
All about it when I'm done

Ahh New Age
True Age
It's just like turning a new page
Salt and pepper
Bottled water
Sure can be a blue age

Ahh New Age
Turnin' your true Age
It's just like lookin' at a new page
Salt and pepper
Bottled water
Sure can be a blue age

Yes, it's just like old age

Bring me some young blood over here
Let me see how well you dance...
