Stray Birds- Folk and Old Timey
Stray Birds
The Stray Birds formed during a precording project by Maya de Vitry. She had been part of the Old Time Liberation Front, and when she needed a demo to take with her to Berklee she came to Steam Powered to record some of her original music, beginning in May of 2010.

Then Maya met Oliver Craven, and they began recording together, beginning with Willow Garden, Sparrows, and My Horses Ain't Hungry in August. When Charlie Muench came in to add upright bass, the band was complete. Here's a sample from Borderland.

The Borderland EP has been well received, getting radio play across the country. The band has been touring steadily, and recently completed their first second full-length CD. They returned to Steam Powered Studio to record their arrangement of a union song from 1905, called Welcome Mother Jones.
