August 31, 2010 I have been very busy in the studio this month, and so tonight I took off and went someplace else. That's "me" in Second Life. I haven't learned how to do anything yet, but I did actually fly, and chat with a couple of newbies like myself. It was fun. Don't let my appearance fool you- it's really me alright. Pretty buff, huh? Before I'm done though, I'm going to alter this to look like a dumpy, balding 60-something guy with bad skin. Just so I can say I actually look better IRL. The name is the best part- sadly, you aren't allowed to create your own last name, you must pick from a list. I thought "Hoof" was the best. August 20, 2010 So what's a studio without racks 'n racks of gear? A generous donor just contributed six channels of gates, two (possibly three) of graphic eq, two of 5 band parametric eq, a couple of CD recorders and a lunchbox. Oh, and some kind of switch thing that might come in handy someday. Looks awesome, doesn't it? Kids these days use plug-ins to replicate most of these functions, and I haven't needed them much because my recorder has these things built in, but there is something sort of magic about patching up an insert and twisting knobs... this will be fun.
