July 28, 2012 Know your frequency, bands.

July 27, 2012 Woke up yesterday with a song and got it pretty well roughed out... it's funny, because they can go in so many directions. That is to say, I started with words this time, and then had to make choices about the song, the melody, the arrangement. Deciding to make it electric was a good choice. It's called My Father's House, and no, it isn't for, by, or about Jesus as far as I know. (although parts of it are unclear to me...) This morning I'm considering a trial run with Google Ads. They are offering $100 worth of ads for free. Now, $100 might last for 5 minutes, depending of what words you use, so I'm trying to come up with some phrases that are unique enough that it might take a month before the money runs out. Things like pay recording costs and donate to recording might get few hits, but they might be good ones.

July 12, 2012 Wow- long time, no post! I have been busy... If you know me, you know that every so often I get the urge to be a buckeroo. There is something appealing to me about short little hook-laden songs that make you want to dance. This one is like that. I Was Wrong To Be Right This here is the man. Now, at 2:53, my song is on the longish side for the genre, but there's a fiddle break in there by Jordan Rast which lengthens it by a few seconds.

July 05, 2012 All right- there's now pages for Robert Bobby. I like the photo of him there- sort of steely-eyed. Guitar-slinger... Oh, and I forgot to mention my 48 Eagles page. Just a little patriotic something for the holiday.

July 03, 2012 Exciting morning so far- I've ordered some CF card to IDE adapters, and some 32Gig CF cards which will (supposedly) function the same as hard drives in my Yamaha AW4416 recorder. Now, I've been using one of these recorders since around ought two, and in all that time (well over 1,000 songs I bet!) I've had only one hard drive failure. But that one was one too many! (that was the famous goats crash of '11) I believe that the failure rate on CF cards is many times lower than the Travel Star drives I have been using. This takes one big worry out of the studio for a while- where to find replacement drives down the line. I prefer using old, proven tech to shiny new tech, unless the shiny new tech actually does something better. Which, I have learned, is seldom the case. I still find that a program running on a Mac Plus from 1985 does everything I need in the way of MIDI drum sequencing.

July 02, 2012 I'm currently working on pages for Joe Ellis. It's great listening back to this project from 2006..5..4.. I just discovered that Joe's Bonus Track wasn't included in the Steam Powered numbering system before today- it's the latest recording, number 444. Sounds lucky. I'm replacing the original 128k mp3 files on site to higher-quality 256k files. Good times... heh.
