Me and Matt were talking, and we came to a point in the conversation where he answered everything with the phrase "because you believed it". Whatever it was, this was the answer. He was trying to get me to look at things from a different angle, to understand that things seemed the way they did to me only because of what I believed- and that maybe what I believed was wrong.

I think he gave me more credit than I deserved. I'm slow or stubborn and didn't get his point, but I thought about that phrase a lot, and it managed to work through my submerged iceberg brain and come out as the lyrics to this song.
Because You Believed It
I sit alone in the dark
My heart's a question mark
I want to be free again
Don't keep me waiting in vain
Don't keep me waiting in vain

Pressure's on my mind
You can relieve it
We're two of a kind
You can't conceive it
Now you've crossed the line
Because you believed it
Because you believed it

Locked up for so many years
None of the pain disappears
Memories that time can't erase
I see all over your face
I see them all in your face

Pressure's on my mind
You can relieve it
We're two of a kind
You can't conceive it
Now you've crossed the line
Because you believed it
Because you believed it

Birds fly and what do they care
What keeps them up in the air?
Don't fear what you may reap
The angels are asleep
The angels are asleep
The angels are asleep

Pressure's on my mind
You can relieve it
We're two of a kind
You can't conceive it
Now you've crossed the line
Because you believed it
Because you believed it

Even after writing it I didn't understand it, but I could sing it and feel it and other people felt something there too. My experience with it revealed something about how I think.
It may be no great discovery, no secret, but it could explain a lot.
