Here's another one of those goofy rock and roll songs. They're so much fun- they don't have to mean anything, and I get the chance to work words like gabardine into the lyrics. It's a thing.

The song is Diamonds. I have the feeling I started this one from a couple of lines jotted down at work, back when I was making ice cream for my dad. Once I got good at setting up the boxes and the ingredients I had about ten minutes between batches for writing, and with the noise of the machinery drowning out any distractions it was a great place for it.

And after a dozen years or so, the meat and bones of this song got some special sauce added in the basement studio on Maple Ave- the guitar shredding that they always needed. Thanks, Ben!

Diamonds

Diamonds, baby, that's what she wore
She put a picture in her pocket and she headed out of the door
She's goin' down the road, an' won't see me no more
I said diamonds, baby, that's what she wore
She put a picture in her wallet and she headed out of the door
Oooh- oooh, she cut through

Well bye bye baby, that's what she wrote
I'm gonna buy my baby a gabardine coat
"Love and kisses", she signed the note
I said bye bye baby, that's what she wrote
"Love and kisses", she signed the note
Oooh- oooh, when she cut through

I said my, my baby, how can this be?
When all I as't you be good to me
Had your chance, now you are free
I said my, my baby, how can this be?
I say you had your chance, now you are free
Oooh- oooh, when she cut through

She cut through
She cut through
She cut through
