sea shell

05/27/22

Dreams and words. Two things that are subject to interpretation. Both of them are pathways to meaning that shouldn't be mistaken for things having meaning in themselves. If you know what I mean.

But if you don't, that's what songs are for. This song is written about two people in a deeply intimate relationship who, while dreaming, take a look around to see what's happening. I leave it to you to supply the interpretation.

Energy Seeking Energy
Victoria Mowrer 2016

Toujours Ensemble

Wake up and talk to me
I've had a terrible dream
There were the strangest scenes
And a phrase or two
I'll relate to you

A bitter moon hung high
Drowned sailors' bones lay all around
Below the waves we fly
To a coral bed
Where you turned and said

Toujours ensemble
Toujours ensemble
I don't know what it means
But it made me feel that I've lost your love

Strong currents carried us
To places deep and cold
And in the dim-lit dusk
I could hear the sea
Whisper to me

Toujours ensemble
Toujours ensemble
I don't know what it means
But it made me feel that I've lost your love

You turn and comfort me
I feel the warmth of your breath
Caresses, kisses sweet
And the normal things
That darkness brings

You tell me dreams aren't real
As though I were a child
And then I feel the chill
As you say "Don't worry ever
We'll always be together"
